Our children start in the Sunday service to hear our pastor's welcome, announcements, passing the Peace of the Lord, and the children's message. After the children's message, the children move to one of the classrooms where they read a story from the Bible and a related lesson plan as well as a fun art or craft project.
Our youth serve as acolytes to bring the light of Christ during Sunday worship services.
As the children grow older, our pastor schedules confirmation classes.
Camp John Knox
Our youth may attend summer camp at Camp John Knox. They enjoy swimming, canoeing, archery, arts and crafts, a zip line, and much more. Some camps are night-owl style where the campers stay up all night and sleep in during the day.
When it is pumpkin patch time, our youth join right in. The older ones help unload the truck while the younger ones arrange the smaller pumpkins, gourds, and Indain corn. They help run games during the Fall Festival and sometimes set up a lemonade stand. It is a great opportunity to teach our youth about donating time and talent.
One Sunday each year, the Presbyterian Church celebrates Youth Sunday. West Emory participates in this event. Several youth members participate during the service. They read scriptures, sing and/or perform music, and sometimes even give a sermon.
Easter Egg Hunt
West Emory has a long tradition of having the ultimate egg hunt for our younger members after Easter service. Our yard has plenty of nooks and crannies for eggs to hide. There are so many eggs that the children's baskets overflow - not that they complain.
